Would you not say that the seismic cultural differences between generations impinges upon the sheer rapidity of the technological developments that have occurred since the end of the Second World War, as technology is the biggest contibuting factor in definitions of culture?

Hi James. Thanks for the note. This is certainly a key factor yes, I didn’t really get into what causes the cultural difference - more an observation into how stark the differences are. My piece was influenced in seeing one generation leaving a world that looks nothing like the one they entered, but they were able to come out on top in the time they had. When the boomer approached retirement age, “the end of history” was written and global stability declared. The recession hit them at a time when their house was paid off rather than 21. An average worker in this generation is starting behind the 8 ball, going into a series of unknowns both domestically and globally.
